"The Healer"

She was healer
Of broken hearts,
This friend I wish
You could have known.
She helped soothe
A lot of my hurts,
But walked
Herself alone.

From whence she came,
I never knew,
She simply came by
One day.
My life was
Dark and dreary,
How she knew,
I cannot say.

She would often
Sit and listen,
As I shared the
Dreams I dreamed.
Never interrupt or
Even comment,
Just giving approval,
It seemed.

There were no
Prying questions,
And her patience
Never ended.
Although we were
Most different,
Our spirits
Completely blended.

When she left
I was much stronger,
I remember the times
We just sat.
As I think of all
My happy times,
I give thanks for
That calico cat
